Street Snap #53 KODAK Charmera Keychain Digital Camera Unboxing

I purchased the “KODAK CHARMERA Keychain Digital Camera.”

It is a compact digital camera designed by KODAK in the form of a keychain. In 1987, KODAK introduced the disposable camera “KODAK Fling,” which made photography accessible to everyone. That same idea has re-emerged today in the form of the “KODAK CHARMERA.”

At the time of its release, it was highly popular and difficult to obtain. Now that supply has stabilized, I was finally able to get one.

Upon unboxing, I was struck by how small it is. Its size is perfect for attaching to a bag as a keychain. Each unit comes in one of seven colors, randomly packed, and not knowing which one you will get adds a small sense of anticipation to the experience.

With the “KODAK CHARMERA” in hand, I immediately walked through the streets of Shibuya. The photographs taken there will be presented in the next series. ■

「KODAK CHARMERA キーチェーンデジタルカメラ」を購入した。

KODAKが手がけた、キーホルダー型の小型デジタルカメラである。1987年に発売された使い捨てカメラ「KODAK Fling」は、誰もが気軽に撮影できる体験を広めたが、その発想は、現代において「KODAK CHARMERA」というかたちで再び立ち上がっている。

発売当初は人気が高く、入手は容易ではなかった。しかし現在は供給も落ち着き、ようやく手に取ることができた。

実際に開封してみると、その小ささに驚かされた。キーホルダーとしてかばんに取り付けるのにぴったりの大きさである。7種類のカラーバリエーションがランダムに封入されており、どの色が入っているのか分からないという点も、開封ならではの楽しみでもあった。

そして、「KODAK CHARMERA」を持ってさっそく渋谷の街を歩いてみた。そこで撮影した写真については、次のシリーズで紹介したい。■
