Chidorigafuchi Moat, one of the moats surrounding the Imperial Palace, offers a uniquely graceful hanami experience.
The path beside the water was crowded with cherry blossom viewers, yet the view across the moat remained calm and elegant. The soft petals floating above the still water created a quiet beauty, while in the distance, the high-rise buildings near Tokyo Station added an unexpected contrast.
Captured with the GR III, these images reflect the subtle harmony of history, nature, and cityscape found at Chidorigafuchi Moat. ■

Yasukuni Shrine
Nearby, Yasukuni Shrine’s cherry trees were also in full bloom. The shrine is home to Tokyo’s official “sakura standard tree,” used by the Japan Meteorological Agency to mark the beginning of the cherry blossom season, a small but fascinating detail of hanami culture in Tokyo.
