Street Snap #12 Scenes from Shinjuku

Shinjuku is in the midst of major redevelopment, with the station itself feeling more like a construction site than a transit hub. The surrounding area changes day by day, and I feel a growing desire to keep documenting its transformation over time.

This series was shot while walking from the busy streets around Shinjuku Station toward the quieter office district of Nishi-Shinjuku. There, the pace slows, and a more subdued atmosphere takes hold.

Captured with the GR III, these photos reflect the contrasts of an ever-changing city—restless and dynamic in one moment, then still and contemplative the next. ■

新宿は大規模な再開発の最中にあり、駅そのものも交通の拠点というより、巨大な工事現場のように感じられる。周辺の風景は日々変化していて、その変化を時間をかけて記録したいという気持ちが強くなっている。

このシリーズは、新宿駅周辺のにぎやかな通りから、より静かな西新宿のオフィス街へと歩きながら撮影した。そこでは街の速度が少し落ち、控えめで落ち着いた空気が広がっていた。

GR IIIで撮影したこの写真には、変化し続ける都市の対比が写っている。ある瞬間には落ち着きなく躍動し、次の瞬間には静かで思索的な表情を見せる街だった。■
