JJC Protective Wrap Review for the Ricoh GR IV
I recently received a JJC Protective Wrap for compact cameras after winning a giveaway organized by JJC Japan on X.
I had already been interested in the wrap as a simple way to protect my Ricoh GR IV without carrying a bulky case. After using it, I found that it works especially well on days when I want to place the camera casually in a bag and take it out only when needed.
This article is a hands-on review based on my own experience with the product.

I received the JJC Protective Wrap after winning a giveaway organized by JJC Japan on X. This review reflects my own experience and opinions.
A Simple Protective Wrap for Compact Cameras
The JJC Protective Wrap is a compact camera cover that works almost like a small wrapping cloth. It is designed to protect a camera while remaining lightweight and easy to store.
Rather than placing the camera in a rigid case, you position the camera in the center of the wrap and fold the fabric around it. This makes it particularly useful for compact cameras such as the Ricoh GR IV.

JJC Accessories I Already Use with the GR IV
JJC makes a wide range of accessories for Ricoh GR cameras. I already use several of them with my GR IV, including a lens filter and a metal lens cap.

I had also seen this JJC wrap introduced by Drikin, a tech-focused YouTuber I regularly watch. The product had already caught my attention, so winning it came at exactly the right time.

Unboxing the JJC Protective Wrap
The JJC Protective Wrap arrived the day after I received the giveaway notification on X. The delivery was surprisingly fast.

I opened the package and unfolded the wrap.

When fully opened, the wrap has a cross-shaped design.

You place the GR IV in the center and fold the fabric around the camera.

The inner surface that touches the camera has a soft texture designed to help prevent scratches. The fabric also has a slight grip, so it stays in place while you are wrapping the camera.

Once the camera is completely wrapped, an illustration inspired by a compact camera appears on the outside. The design is simple enough for everyday use.

Materials and Everyday Use
According to the product description, the outer surface is made of ultra-fine microfiber fabric. It can be used to gently wipe dirt or water droplets from a camera screen or other equipment. The inner surface is soft and designed to help protect the camera body from scratches.
After trying it myself, I found it useful that the wrap also works as a cleaning cloth. It is more than just a piece of fabric for covering the camera.
Why the Wrap Is Practical
- It protects the camera without adding much bulk.
- The soft inner surface helps prevent scratches.
- The microfiber outer surface can also be used as a cleaning cloth.
- The slightly grippy fabric makes the camera easier to wrap securely.
- It is easy to fold and store when not in use.
Easy to Carry Casually in a Bag
For photo walks and days when I know I will be shooting seriously, I usually use the OUTDOOR PRODUCTS Camera Pouch 05 that I introduced in a separate article.

However, there are also days when I am not sure whether I will take any photos but still want to bring the GR IV with me.
- I may or may not take photos.
- I still want to carry the GR IV just in case.
For those situations, the JJC Protective Wrap is a very simple and practical solution.
It gives me the confidence to place the GR IV casually in a bag without adding much bulk. Because I can use it only when needed, it feels well suited to everyday use.
The price is also relatively affordable, making it an easy accessory to add to a GR setup. For anyone who carries a Ricoh GR camera regularly, I think it is worth considering.

Final Thoughts
The JJC Protective Wrap is not a replacement for every type of camera pouch. Instead, it fills a different role.
When I plan to spend the day taking photos, I prefer a dedicated pouch with a neck strap. When I simply want to bring the GR IV with me in a bag, the wrap is lighter, more compact, and easier to carry.
That flexibility is what makes it useful. It provides a simple layer of protection while preserving the portability that makes the GR series so appealing.
